A Tale of Life, Love, and Lucha Libre

I have another author friend whose book, Can’t Buy Me Love is due to be released June 2013. Her name is Summer Kinard, and she lives in Durham, NC. I first met Summer through a singing friend of mine several years ago, and we’ve kept in touch through the years. When she’s not writing or homeschooling her two lovely children, she is singing opera with a couple of local opera companies. This book, which will be her first, tells the tale of life, love, and lucha libre (freestyle wrestling).

I had the pleasure of being one of several test readers of Summer’s manuscript before it went to print. I can tell you that it will be a most enjoyable read, and those of you who live in the Triangle area will recognise various places mentioned in the book. Below is a trailer for the book that was released on YouTube:

Right now, Summer has a celebratory giveaway at her website on Writing Like a Mother. To celebrate the release of the print version of the advanced review copy of Can’t Buy Me Love, as well as the upcoming birthdays of her husband and her bff, Kim, she will be giving away three stacks of vintage handkerchiefs. And yes, those handkerchiefs do feature in the plot of her book!

Click here to read about the giveaway and to learn how to enter to win. The contest is open until this Friday, March 8, at 8pm EST.
